Name of the project: EFBEL VRR – Hybrid buses in line operation

Description: Within the EFBEL project, city buses with hybrid and alternative power trains are subject to real driving tests. Based on the experience gathered in a preceding project, the following topics will be covered in depth:

  • Dedicated measurement of fuel consumption, exhaust and noise emissions
  • Energy balance of main auxiliary systems
  • Identification of main impact factors on fuel consumption using simulation models and analysis of load profiles
  • Analysis of the impact of operation concepts and driver behavior
  • Analysis of route profiles and topography characteristics with respect to their impact on operating modes
  • Examination of changes in fuel consumption considering service life
  • Observation of weather related phenomena and their influence on fuel consumption and availability (winter vs. summer)
