Name of the project: H2 Aberdeen


H2 Aberdeen is an initiative to bring about a hydrogen economy in the Aberdeen City Region. It will help to reinforce the area’s position as an energy city, now and in the future.

H2 Aberdeen is the umbrella brand which incorporates all the hydrogen activities currently on going in Aberdeen, and potential future projects, including:

  • The Hydrogen strategy for Aberdeen City Region – 2015 – 2025
  • Hydrogen Bus Project Hydrogen Bus Project
  • HyTrEc project (Hydrogen Transport Economy for the North Sea Region)
  • Aberdeen Hydrogen Centre – A second hydrogen refuelling station Aberdeen city
  • Hydrogen Cars – as part of the above project we have secured 4 Hyundai iX35 fuel cell cars
  • Hyacinth Project – a project about hydrogen acceptance
  • New Bus Fuel – Engineering Study for large scale bus refuelling
  • H2ME (Hydrogen Mobility Europe) – upgrading the Kittybrewster refuelling station to allow 700bar refuelling.
  • Scottish Cities Alliance Commercialisation Study – Aberdeen are leading on this project to introduce a large fleet of fuel cell buses across the UK and Europe.
