Name of the project: KNOWHY – Improving the Knowledge in Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology for Technicians

Description: It is widely accepted that job opportunities for technicians and workers will arise in the short term for Fuel Cells and Hydrogen (FC&H2) applications, but at the same time there is a lack of training offers for technicians.
KnowHy is a 3 year European project that aims at providing to the widest possible audience of technicians specific training modules, practical, in an appropriate format and at affordable cost, to facilitate the deployment of the FC&H2 technologies expected to enter the market within the time frame 2014-2020.

KnowHy intends to create six different courses with one common core module and five different specialisations modules. Courses will be supported in E-learning format and will be available in multiple countries and in 7 languages (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch). Partners will promote the project among professional associations in Europe with the goal of training a minimum number of 1000 technicians.

Key features of the training programme developed by KnowHy project are:

  • Specific training, focused on applications which are going to enter the market
  • Comfortable format for active technicians
  • Practical training, Serious Games and Tutoring to complement the lessons
  • Low cost courses
  • Easily adaptable to other languages
  • Training a minimum number of 1000 people during the project
  • KnowHy will lead to a self-sustained training offer with the establishment of a legal entity to continue to offer the courses without any subsidy

The consortium includes: Delft University of Technology (coordinator), Instituto Superior Tecnico, FAST, Munich Technical University, Fundación para el desarollo de las nuevas tecnologias del hidrogeno en Aragon, Environment Park, The University of Birmingham and McPhy Energy, Fundación San Valero, Vertigo Games, PNO Consultants.

The project will end in August 2017.
