Best Practices from European Cities & Regions – EUSEW 2019 Side Event

HyER and Transport Scotland are delighted to invite you to their morning workshop on zero emission transport which will take place on Wednesday 19 June from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The event will be held at Scotland House, Rond-point Robert Schuman 6, Brussels and will be followed by a networking lunch.

The decarbonisation of transport will play a critical role in meeting global climate change goals, and in reducing the damage done to human health and the environment by local air pollution. At the local level, both public and private stakeholders will have to develop innovative approaches for the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles, and alternative fuel infrastructure, in order to reduce these emissions.

This workshop will discuss initiatives implemented, or being developed, in a number of European cities and regions, in order to support the uptake of zero emission mobility at the local level. Speakers will consider approaches undertaken for both light and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as cross-cutting issues.  A panel discussion will address how progress could be accelerated.

The event will include the sessions below, followed by a panel discussion:

Presentation 1 : Dundee ‘Electrifying a City’ – Fraser Crichton, Assistant Corporate Fleet Manager, Dundee City Council

Presentation 2 : Northern Netherlands ‘Hydrogen in Public Transport in the region’ – Erwin Stoker, Team leader Public Transportation Development, OV-bureau Groningen Drenthe (public transport authority)

Presentation 3 : Berlin ‘Development of an Electromobility hub in the city’ – Thomas Meißner, Head of Division Energy & Mobility, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology

Presentation 4 : tbc Presentation on heavy duty vehicles

Moderator: Edward Thomson, Head of Low Emission Vehicle Policy, Transport Scotland (tbc)
